How to Connect ChatGPT to LeadCeleris with MCP

ChatGPT can connect directly to LeadCeleris through the Model Context Protocol, or MCP. Once connected, a trusted ChatGPT workspace can inspect CRM activity, review WhatsApp conversations, find contacts, summarize the sales pipeline, read business knowledge, and request approved changes through a controlled set of tools.

The setup is deliberately simple: add one remote MCP URL, choose Connect, sign in to LeadCeleris, and approve the workspace. You do not need to create an API key, paste an Authorization header, run a local bridge, or make a laptop environment variable available to the ChatGPT website.

Before you begin

You need an active LeadCeleris workspace and a ChatGPT plan or workspace that can add a custom remote MCP connection. The exact menu label can vary by ChatGPT workspace and release. Look for Plugins, connectors, or a connector builder in workspace settings.

The LeadCeleris remote endpoint is https://app.leadceleris.com/api/mcp. It uses Streamable HTTP and the standard MCP OAuth 2.1 flow. The endpoint is the same for ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, and other compatible MCP clients.

Connect ChatGPT in three steps

First, open Plugins or your workspace connector builder in ChatGPT. Create a remote MCP connection and paste https://app.leadceleris.com/api/mcp as the server URL. You do not need to enter a client secret or custom bearer token.

Second, save the connection and choose Connect or Sign in. ChatGPT contacts the MCP endpoint, discovers the LeadCeleris authorization service, and opens a browser-based login. If your workspace requires an administrator to review custom connectors, complete that approval before continuing.

Third, sign in to LeadCeleris. The consent screen identifies the active workspace and shows the requested read and write access. Confirm that the workspace name is correct, review the permissions, and choose Authorize. ChatGPT then returns to the connection with refreshable OAuth credentials.

Why OAuth matters for ChatGPT web

A hosted website cannot safely read a private environment variable from your computer. Copying a permanent API key into a hosted connector also makes rotation and workspace scoping harder. OAuth replaces that manual secret exchange with an explicit login and consent flow.

LeadCeleris access tokens are short-lived, tied to the MCP resource, and limited to the organization approved during consent. Refresh tokens rotate. Your LeadCeleris password is entered only on LeadCeleris and is never sent to ChatGPT.

Verify the connection with a read-only request

Begin with: "Use LeadCeleris to show my workspace overview. Read only and do not change any data." A successful response should identify the organization and summarize connected channels, contacts, messages, open escalations, recent orders, and bookings.

Next, ask ChatGPT to list five recent conversations and summarize the customer need in each. Then inspect one contact. Starting with reads confirms that the connection points to the intended workspace before you consider any tool that modifies data.

Useful ChatGPT workflows

For a morning briefing, ask ChatGPT to identify hot leads, qualified contacts waiting for a useful reply, open escalations, new orders, and upcoming bookings. This turns several dashboard views into a single prioritized plan while the source records remain in LeadCeleris.

For conversation help, ask it to summarize a selected thread and draft the next reply without sending. Review the customer, wording, price, delivery promise, and tone. A normal browser visit to the MCP URL can show a method response because MCP protocol calls use HTTP POST; the client handles that automatically.
